On the first day of Diabetes Awareness Day....

We've all heard the song, "On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me...."

In honor of diabetes awareness month and national diabetes days (NOVEMBER 14TH) I thought I'd do fun little posts about what diabetes has given me. Even though there's only eight more days until November 14th, I thought I'd write a fun little lyric song now for fun. I hope you enjoy!

(Also because I'm feeling the Christmas spirit)

On the first day of Diabetes Awareness Day my disease sent to me...
A symptom that made me constantly have to pee (since that's a common symptom of diabetes)

On the second day of DAD my disease sent me to...
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

On the third day of DAD my disease sent to me...
Three persistent site changes
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

On the fourth day of DAD my disease gave to me...
Four DexCom questions
Three persistent site changes
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

On the fifth day of DAD my disease gave to me...
Five reservoir changes
Four DexCom questions
Three persistent site changes
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

On the sixth day of DAD my disease gave to me...
Six confused head turns
Five reservoir changes
Four DexCom questions
Three persistent site changes
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

On the seventh day of DAD my disease gave to me...
Seven missed slumber parties
Six confused head turns
Five reservoir changes
Four DexCom questions
Three persistent site changes
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

On the eight day of DAD my disease gave me to...
Eight meters beeping
Seven missed slumber parties
Six confused head turns
Five reservoir changes
Four DexCom questions
Three persistent site changes
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

On the ninth days of DAD my disease gave to me...
Nine sleepless nights
Eight meters beeping
Seven missed slumber parties
Six confused head turns
Five reservoir changes
Four DexCom questions
Three persistent site changes
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

On the tenth day of DAD my disease gave to me....
Ten months of confusion
Nine sleepless nights
Eight meters beeping
Seven missed slumber parties
Six confused head turns
Five reservoir changes
Four DexCom questions
Three persistent site changes
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

On the eleventh day of DAD my disease gave to me...
Eleven new diabetic friends
Ten months of confusion
Nine sleepless nights
Eight meters beeping
Seven missed slumber parties
Six confused head turns
Five reservoir changes
Four DexCom questions
Three persistent site changes
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

On the twelfth day of DAD my disease gave to me...
Twelve years of agony
Eleven new diabetic friends
Ten months of confusion
Nine sleepless nights
Eight meters beeping
Seven missed slumber parties
Six confused head turns
Five reservoir changes
Four DexCom questions
Three persistent site changes
Two tiresome shots
And a symptom that made me constantly have to pee

As you can tell, I am definitely not the songwriter type. I think I'll stick with school ;)
