7:00 AM (breakfast)- half a handful of broccoli
10:00 AM (mid morning snack)- a sack of asparagus
12:30 PM (lunch)- a fourth of a spinach granola bar, one once of water, and half a cherry tomato
3:00 PM (after school snack)- one pretzel stick
7:00 PM (dinner)- three pieces of spaghetti
So yep! That pretty much sums up what it's like to eat as a diabetic!!
In all seriousness, as you probably could have guessed, that is not what I eat as a diabetics. Despite the fact that most people have the believe that diabetics are "unhealthy" or "fat" and as a result, have to keep to a strict and healthy diet plan -- that's not really true at all!
The truth is that I often eat a lot of unhealthy food that I probably shouldn't be - but that has nothing to do with diabetes! I love to eat healthy (salads, fruits, and vegetables), but as a diabetic I'm not required to any more any an average person.
All diabetics (Type 1) have to do differently is give themselves insulin, also known as medicine, to make sure that their blood sugar doesn't go too high! But other than that, I'm just a regular teen with a regular diet!
