Blood Sugar Was 38

Since coming to college, I have become extremely dependent on the new features of the Medtronic Pump, particularly Auto-Mode.

What auto-mode does it adjust the pump's basal depending on my blood sugar by working together with Guardian Sensor. For example, if my blood sugar shows a downhills trend going low, the pump would automatically suspend the basal or lower it to avoid me going low. Or if my blood sugar shows an uphill trend going high, the pump would increase the basal to avoid me going too high.

This feature of the pump has been a life saver.

Last night I was extremely tired and my sensor fell off right before bed. Rather than staying up for two hours to wait and calibrate, I decided to go to bed. What's even worse is that I snacked aimlessly without really being careful about how much I bolused.

I woke up at 2:30 AM in incredible pain.

I checked my blood sugar and the screen read: 38.

Not to say that I wouldn't be able to survive without Auto-Mode, but it probably would've saved me a lot of pain and ache last night if I had been more responsible and calibrated before going to sleep.
