How to Stable Your Blood Sugars During the Holiday Season

With all of these holidays quickly coming and going, it can be hard to have fun if your blood sugars are all over the place.

Over the years, I have discovered techniques that help me keep my blood sugars in check so that I can enjoy the holidays and all the food that comes with it! I hope these tips help for any diabetics reading!

Christmas 2006

1. Use Dexcom
This is pretty self explanatory. Use Dexcom and use it effectively! Try to keep your blood sugars on the lower side, as you will always have food handy to eat!

2. Bolus at least 30-45 minutes in advance.
This kind of relates to the first time, but bolus early! And if you bolus too early and your blood sugar starts to dip, just grab a roll or drink some juice to make it go up! Because it is better to be a little low than high, as it will just be an excuse to eat more!

3. Be AGGRESSIVE!
Be aggressive with how you bolus. If you like to eat big meals like me, it may take a little time for your blood sugar to go back up, but it will go back up!
