A few weeks ago, during spring break, my dad and I went down to the east coast! Our first stop was Washington. At Washington, I saw many important monuments, experienced the busy life, and learned how the people were different than here on the West Coast.
Let's start with the monuments- we of course saw the Washington memorial. Unfortunately, it was closed "indefinitely" for construction (I think the elevator), so we weren't able to go up to the top.
Next, we went to the Lincoln memorial, where we took many pictures! Fun fact: my dad put our jackets down for 2 minutes and when we went back to the spot, they were gone! We were so sure someone had stolen it and were freaked for about 5 minutes, but soon found out that the security guards had just taken them.
After that, we headed down to the Vietnam War Memorial. It was especially important to my dad, because he is an immigrant and came to the US as a teenager when he escaped the war! Despite the memorial being crowded, I was happy because that meant that many people wanted to learn more about history!
After visiting the monuments, we had lunch (there is an endless amount of food trucks in Washington) and went to the Art Museum to get out of the sun!
All in all, Washington was an extremely interesting, informative, and fun place to visit, and I can't wait to go back again someday!
